When You Fall Off The Wagon…

Ok, so I think we’ve all fallen off the wagon a time or two in various areas of our life and unfortunately meditation is no different.

The last couple of months in my life have been challenging to say the least and meditation was one of my daily rituals that I followed religiously. As everything in my life started to work itself out, I was happier, full of energy and extremely optimistic about the future. This is obviously great news, but as I started to focus on all of the new things coming into my life a few of my daily rituals seemed to slip into the background and they weren’t so “daily” anymore.

Meditation was one of the rituals that faded into the background of my life and after 1.5 weeks of not meditating regularly, I realize how much I miss it!

And I’ve also realized just how much value it adds to my life….

* When I meditate on a daily basis my sleep quality improves drastically! I have a busy mind and without meditation, it takes me a very (very, very!) long time to settle down and fall asleep.

* My focus over the last 1.5 weeks has been sub-par and this definitely isn’t the case when I meditate! Again, this might be my busy mind coming into play again, but when I meditate my days flow effortlessly and I just know what needs to get done and I do it. Without meditation, my days are more difficult to map out and the tasks needing to be done are more difficult to identify and accomplish.

* My overall energy levels have been lower than when I meditated on a daily basis and I now know for a fact that meditation boosts my overall energy! I can’t wait to get my energy levels off the charts again!

And there are more meditating benefits that I was benefiting from that I never even realized until they were gone. Definitely an eye opener for me and I plan on getting back into the meditating routine asap!

The question now is how do I get back into a meditation practice when it easily slipped through my fingers?

I plan on scheduling meditation into my daily routine because when I actually plan for something to happen, it does!

I also plan on meditating for 10 minutes rather than 15-20 minutes to ease myself back into my meditation routine. I’m also considering listening to some guided meditations to get me back on track!

Basically, I plan on going back to the basics of beginner meditation to ensure that daily meditation becomes (and stays!) part of my life again!
