Guided Meditation

What is Guided Meditation?

Guided meditation is one of the many types of meditation available today. Each type of meditation is effective and you should choose the specific meditation that works best for you.

If you’re new to the practice of meditation, then guided meditation is a method you should definitely consider. Many meditation techniques involve sitting peacefully in a quiet area with no outside influences. With guided meditation it’s still very important to be in a quiet, distraction-free zone but it is differs in one major way. Rather than “guiding” yourself through your thoughts and experiences, guided meditations actually guide you through a meditative experience.

Guided Meditation There are numerous meditation cd’s, audio’s or mp3 tracks available that walk you through a script, journey or story. The benefits of guided meditation are plentiful, but one of the main benefits of this type of meditation is that someone walks you through the process. A soothing voice explains what to do and removes the uncertainty and questions that often arise in beginner meditation.

An example of guided meditation goes as follows….

“Sit in a comfortable position in a quiet, peaceful location. Take 3 deep breaths to unwind and relax. With each exhale, breath out your worries or stresses from the day. Starting at your feet, completely relax your toes and each foot. Feel the tension move out of your body and allow yourself to completely relax. Now, move up your body into your calves and fully release the tension and welcome the relaxation……..”

This is a quick sample of what you can expect from a guided meditation. Many tracks are simple, but very effective at re-storing balance and peace back into your life.
