Improve Your Immune System While You Meditate

In the hectic, modern world it seems that people are always falling ill with the latest outbreak of influenza or something of the type. Not to mention the fact that the number of people affected by serious diseases is continuously on the rise. These modern epidemics create fear and panic and a vicious cycle seemingly unfolds before the worlds eyes.

Unfortunately, far too many people are sick on a regular basis and rather than considering why they’re constantly under the weather, they turn to over the counter prescriptions. This is a personal choice and in no way am I encouraging you to stop taking your current medications. I’m simply introducing a new method of healing that I encourage you to try out for yourself!

A regular meditation practice has many benefits and these include improving your immune system, reducing stress levels, increasing relaxation and improving your sleep patterns. Pretty impressive benefits, right?

So how does incorporating a daily meditation practice into your routine improve your immune system?

1. Meditating reduces stress levels and reduced stress levels = a healthier you! Stress effects the body very negatively so it’s more important than ever to work on reducing the levels of stress in your life and meditation can do this.

2. Yes, meditating will improve your quality of sleep which helps improve all areas of your life! Your body will be well rested and ready to tackle anything that’s thrown it’s way. Getting enough rest also helps to reduce stress levels as you’ll be in the right state of mind to handle the challenges that arise throughout your day.

3. A scientific study that was published in Psychosomatic Medicine actually proves that a regular meditation practice boosts immunity! Researchers studied a total of 48 participants over an 8 week period where half of the participants were trained in meditation. All participants were given a flu vaccine and the researchers studied the level of antibodies the participants produced.

The results showed that participants engaging in regular meditations produced higher level of antibodies from the flu vaccine. They also studied brain activity in a couple areas of the brain and they found that the group of participants meditating experienced higher levels of positive emotions and reduced anxiety.
