Are you ready to learn more about meditation exercises?
First off, it’s great that you’ve decided to give meditation a try and find out for yourself what all the hype is about! I can still remember how intimidating meditation was when I first started out. Everyone talked about it and how great it was, yet I never received any concrete directions on how to actually meditate.
I’ve decided to put together a few meditation exercises for you to try out! These exercises are fairly basic, but they’re a great way to lay a good foundation for your meditation practice and I think you’ll find them beneficial.
Basic Meditation Exercise for Relaxation:
We all get overwhelmed and stressed out at times so it’s important to have the proper tools to deal with these situations. Next time you find yourself in a stressful situation simply follow these steps and watch the stress melt away.
1. Sit in a comfortable, relaxed position preferably somewhere quiet and removed from other people. If you’re not able to find a private location though, that’s ok and this will still work for you!
2. Start off by counting to 10 and immediately take a deep inhale through your nose when you’ve completed the count. Slowly exhale through your mouth and as you exhale imagine all of the stress in your life being blown away. Take 4 more deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth each time.
3. Starting at the top of your body with your face and neck, imagine all of your stress melting away and a flood of warmth and relaxation rushing in. Direct your breath into the area you’re relaxing and continue to do so until you’ve relaxed your entire body.
4. Visualize yourself in a relaxed, peaceful setting. Maybe you picture yourself on the beach or on a boat at sea. Or maybe you feel the most relaxed when you’re in the mountains and surrounded by lush vegetation. Whatever your ideal setting is, visualize it and allow yourself to experience the feelings that you would feel if you were actually there.
Meditate for at least 10 minutes (or longer if you have the time!) and feel yourself relax into a space of peace and clarity.
