As you may or may not know, Reiki is a new age healing technique based on ancient Japanese healing. Reiki is comprised of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki and these two words have the combined meaning of Universal Energy. Therefore, Reiki is an ancient healing technique that channels universal energy through the healer to the recipient.
As opposed to Western Medicine, Reiki is an all-natural healing technique that focuses on reducing stress, improving relaxation and removing negative energy blocks throughout the body. It’s very common for negative energy to manifest in the body as physical ailments and reiki actually helps to address the root of the problem to actually remove the physical ailment, rather than cover it up with medications and pain relievers.
Reiki healing also involves the 7 Chakras found throughout the body. In case you’re unfamiliar with Chakras, the 7 Chakra centers are the:
1. Root Chakra (at the base of the spine)
2. Naval Chakra
3. Solar Plexus
4. Heart Chakra
5. Throat Chakra
6. Third Eye Chakra
7. Crown Chakra (at the top of the head)
Chakras can be thought of as energy stores found throughout the body and that’s why they’re important in reiki. They receive the Universal Energy and when the healer places their hands over the chakras, they’re able to spread this energy throughout the body.
This is where Reiki Meditation comes into play. There’s not a particular type of reiki meditation, but rather it’s important to incorporate meditation into your reiki practice. Recommended types of meditating for reiki include healing meditations or chakra meditations. It’s important to constantly remove the negative toxins from the body and welcome the positive universal energy.
Try incorporating a daily meditation ritual into your reiki practice and you’ll undoubtedly notice a change. Just remember that all new things take time to master and meditation is no different. Be patient and understanding with yourself. Meditation takes years of practice to perfect, but the benefits will start to show immediately not only in your reiki practice, but in other areas of your life as well!
